What is a dental crown?
A dental crown is a custom-made cap that covers the entire visible part of a tooth. It restores a tooth that is cracked, badly worn, heavily filled or weakened after a root canal, giving it back its shape, strength and color. Unlike a filling, a crown protects the tooth from every side, which is why it is the standard of care for teeth that have lost a large amount of structure.
At Tooth Implant Co. in Los Algodones, every crown is planned around your bite. A beautiful crown that hits too high will chip, ache or fracture; that is why Dr. Galindo checks occlusion at the try-in before anything is permanently cemented.
Who needs a crown?
- Teeth with large old fillings that are cracking or leaking
- Teeth that have had a root canal (especially molars)
- Broken or fractured teeth
- Teeth worn down by grinding or acid erosion
- Discolored or misshapen teeth where veneers are not enough
Types of crowns we offer
Choosing the right material matters more than any other decision in crown work. We offer three proven options and recommend one per tooth, never a one-size-fits-all approach. For a deeper comparison, read zirconia vs. E.max crowns.
